October...You Were A Busy One!

Friday, November 4, 2011

Hi Guys...sorry so long since my last post, but, whew...October was busy!

Did a 5K Mun Run Charity event with my daughter and some friends...
and got really muddy!

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this...

But, my daughter is very persuasive as you can see...

We couldn't believe we made it to the finish line

Victory Pose

A friend was covering the media for the event,
so here is the
"Press Photo"

On to Halloween...
I didn't do my grand party this year...I let my sister hold the festivities at her house which worked out kinda cool cause her house is decorated Victorian and my props looked really awesome with her interior design...

These are my mad scientist lab props

A piece of my sister's awesome turn of the century furniture "spookied out".

Another shot of the living dead room...

Finally...our costumes.
My sister is the Golden Goddess, I am the Green Witch,
and my daughter is a Hippie Type...

I have to admit, this was really fun to put so much effort into my costume this year cause I am usually so busy jus' tryin to make the party happen at my house.

Close up of my make up...

On actual Halloween night my Levi dressed up as a hungry for candy Darth Vader...

But, he only lasted about 10 houses, so the candy bag didn't get too full...darnit!

I can give up alot of things, but Chocolate...

NEVERMORE quoth the raven!

Hope you all had as wonderful an October as I did!
See ya next time.

We Survived The Danger...

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Were back from Yosemite...and it was lovely...no danger whatsoever!  The river was calm and amazing and we spent lots of time in it.
The house we stayed in was so cute and cozy and all of us had a wonderful time.
Yosemite was my mother's favorite place in the world and it still is a little bittersweet to be there without her, but I am so thankful that I get to hang with my family for a week in her favorite place.

Here are some snapshots from my childhood in Yosemite...we camped every year in the valley with tons of family and friends...

Our little family camping in the valley circa 1968

My sister and I pestering our Daddy then...

and pestering him now...

These were such fun times in my life...
Levi and I at the Wawona Hotel...on the lawn by the pool...

The Pioneer History Center just below the Wawona Hotel...
Levi loved this historic covered bridge...

and the stagecoach ride...by the way, Buckshot, the driver was lookin' for a wife...
and he had his eye on my sister...

Wow...wildlife just outside our back door, so cool
and me in my Julius jammies, not sure how cool that is...

The "super not safe"
Swinging Bridge
at the end of Chilnualna Falls Road

See, told ya the river was calm and amazing...

I just couldn't stay out of it...

There is nothing like the view from the Wawona Tunnel just above the valley
at sunset...

Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias...and the tunnel tree...
the one that still stands that is!

On our last night, we went to the Big Grey Barn at Wawona for the Barn Dance...
fun, fun, fun!!!

Swing yur part'ner round and round...

So much fun was had by all...can't wait until next year!

Been busy lately,

We will stay for one week at Wawona in a private house close to the Merced river...
yes I've heard it's raging now,
and...
yes I know that so far this summer 8 people have died in Yosemite, but I have been visiting every year for most of my life and I know what I am doing...

See ya in two weeks!

How Did We Get Here???

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I don't know about you, but I don't really like the "woman" who represents us gals now.  What happened to innocence and femininity and simple, honest beauty?
I want it to be like it was before...how about you?

How did we go from looking like this...

to this?

and when did our bodies change from this...

to this?

This used to be what a real beauty looked like...

now we are told in order to be beautiful, we have to look like this...

How did we go from astounding natural beauty...

to "everybody uses the same doctor beauty"?

You could be completely feminine and still be stunning...

why do we have to be trashy now?

Hallmark of a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice...

Housewife!!!

Housewife?

Ava was cutting edge...

this is not even near the line

Remember when each face was unique and different and fresh looking?

These days the hair, lips and eyes all look exactly alike...

She looks so honest and clean and lovely...

she looks scary and dirty and untrustworthy...

When sexy was just that...sexy...

Please don't shoot me, but this is not sexy...

Here's the entertainment standard that young girls aspired to then...

How did the look of Rita get replaced by the same lips and hair as everyone else in Hollywood today?

Hard working professional media woman...

what is happening to our newscasters?

Fresh, clean country girl...

I'm not sure how fresh she is.

Sorry for the ranting, but I have really been thinking alot about this lately and wanted to see if any of you are feeling as misrepresented as I am.

This is my ideal of what it means to be a woman...

This classy lady is my fav and I want to model my appearance after her.
I love her shoes, her lovely, shapely dress, and her classic hair...she is the real beauty!
